JOHN V ULAKOVIC

A long time kaiju fan, John V Ulakovic has become a legend in the resin and vinyl figure kit business through his company Janus. During the 90’s and 00’s John juggled professions. As a full time engineer, he sidelined as an artist where he developed some of the highest quality model kits while working overseas in Africa and China. The quality of the kits he manufactured were often described as museum pieces and set a standard for quality that was unmatched for their time. Today many of his past releases are hard to find “Holy Grails” for collectors with some kits reaching after-market prices in excess of $2,000. John was the first to license the likenesses of Boris Karloff, Bela Lugosi and Lon Chaney for his line of classic horror models. Most recently, John had turned his focus to the development of high end bronze sculptures also focused on those genres though his newest venture, Graven Imaginings (www.GravenImaginings.com). Like many, John is an avid collector of kaiju kits since childhood, first with the Aurora styrene model kits and now with the growth beyond resin and vinyl into the new frontier of 3D sculpture and printing.
