MODELLING AT G-FEST

IT TAKES A VILLAGE TO CREATE A KAIJU

The G-FEST model team is very excited about the new experiences we’re preparing for G-FEST in summer 2026.

We’re focusing on sharing skills and helping to build community through our panel and special event offers from Friday July 10th to Sunday July 12th.

Of course we have the usual panels offering instructions for all levels of model kaiju builders, and interviews with significant guests who are involved in the creation of kits (and even kit box art), and we haven’t forgotten the two Make-and-Take sessions for kids too!

We beyond excited to bring you the new offerings on Friday night this time around. After the panels on Friday, beginning at 4 o’clock, we’ll be offering two new experiences to inspire the creator in your very soul.

There are two great ways interested model builders can get involved in G-FEST events: Learning about model building and showcasing their work.

Model panels run from Friday to Sunday, with presentations on how to build and paint models.  Professional sculptors and model builders will present panels on sculpting, creating dioramas, and opportunities for model builders.

Bring your imagination and be prepared to ask questions not just about what our panelists suggest, but also about your plans for future projects that you want to discuss and share with the panelists and other modellers.

We want to keep building the Kaiju modeller community!

MODEL EVENTS

NEW FOR 2026!

KAIJU UNIVERSITY AND KAIJU VILLAGE

Friday, July 10  4:00pm - 9:00pm

Kaiju University is an opportunity for folks who have limited experience with building and painting model kaiju. If you are excited about the possibility of building and painting your own model kaiju, and you feel like your confidence could be helped out by some mentoring provided by our experienced crew, then please consider joining Kaiju University.

At $100.00 to register, it’s a steal. You get a terrific resin kit, paint and building tools, patient and friendly instruction and supper!

Come build, learn, connect, and be part of the monster invasion!

We can’t wait to see you there!

THE GREATEST LITTLE
GIANT REPTILE SHOW ON EARTH

Our Model show and contest runs from Friday night until Sunday morning.

Entries usually consist of, vinyl,  resin, or styrene models but other media are acceptable (paper, metal, et cetera) - as are original sculpts.

Re-posed and re-painted toys are also allowed, so long as enough work has been done to them that craftsmanship can be judged.  Work is judged in scratch built (original sculpts and kits), diorama, and standalone categories. There is a junior category 17 years and younger.

KAIJU VILLAGE

In the hope of making Friday evening a community learning event, we’d also like to invite more experienced modellers to take part in our communal Kaiju Village building event. The hope is that modellers can bring their unbuilt (or unfinished) models down to the model presentation room and build together. (After all, we know some of you are still finishing things for the model show on Saturday, and this is a chance to get out of your hotel room and share the experience with friends.)

The plan is to create a maker’s space where folks can look at other people’s work, chat about techniques, and inspire each other.

We’re hoping that there will be lots of models on the tables in the model display room this year, and that the kaiju created at Kaiju University and Kaiju Village will be part of the monster invasion that fills the tables for G-FEST 31!
